Katya Bogachevskaia (b. 1986) is a visual artist, curator, editor, and lecturer from St. Petersburg, based in Lisbon.
With an academic background in philosophy and many years of experience as a photo editor, curator, and lecturer, she began developing her own visual practice after moving to Portugal in 2023.
Shaped by experiences of displacement and forced migration after Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, her work reflects on memory, loss, identity, and the fragile relationship between personal and collective history.
Working with photography and archival materials, Bogachevskaia creates metaphorical visual narratives that connect intimate experience with broader historical and political realities.
She was nominated for Futures Photography Talents (2024), shortlisted for the Kolga Tbilisi Photo Award (2024), and won the Narrativa/Fujifilm Award (2025). Her work has been published by Der Greif, among others.
She is the founder of the Academy of Documentary and Art Photography Fotografika and an editor at Republic Media.
