Katya Bogachevskaya is an independent curator, editor and lecturer. Director of the Academy of documentary and art photography Fotografika, founder of Fotografika Publishing and Fotografika Gallery. Chief in editor in Photojournal of Republic Media.
Born in St. Petersburg, Russia in 1986. Graduated from the Institute of Philosophy of St. Petersburg State University. She also studied at the Faculty of photojournalism named by Y.Galperin. Started her career as a photographer. Was a finalist of the competitions “Northern Palmyra”, “Modern view”, “Best photojournalist of the year”. Her stories was published in D-Reppubblica, National Geographic, Newsweek, NRC Hasselblad, Expert, Ogonyok and others. Was a member of Agency Photographer.ru.
Ekaterina was a visual editor of special projects and head of the photo department of the Lenta.ru portal (2011-2012). Co-author of three documentaries from the multimedia series Life Will Be Photography. Editor-in-Chief of the M-Journal of Documentary Photography and Multimedia Liberty.SU (2008-2014). Curator of the Faculty of photojournalism named by Y.Galperin (2014-2015); lecturer at the Photo Department.Institute (2014-2015) and Fotografika Academy (2015-till now) among others. Senior Lecturer, Department of Journalism and Media Technologies, St. Petersburg State University of Industrial Technologies and Design.
Co-organizer of the international conference After Post-Photography (St. Petersburg, 2015). Curator of the Documentary Photography and Contemporary Photography directions at the International Photo Festival Photoparade in Uglich (2017-2018). Organizer of charity Auction Photographers to doctors during COVID-19 (2021), in which took part 130 photographers. Ogranizer of huge amount of educational seminars, lectures, workshops. Curator of different exhibitions (as part of the festivals OFF Bratislava, The First Factory of the Avant-Garde, Photoparade in Uglich, as well as in the galleries and other spaces: Fotografika Gallery, Gallery of Classic Photography, FFTN Gallery, SHKAF library and space, Greenhouse of Tauride garden etc).
Currently based in Lisbon, Portugal.
